Jesse RenoJesse Reno was born in 1861. At age 16 he formulated the idea of a moving staircase. After success with the escalator he made plans for the building of New York City Subway, but that was not accepted. Shortly after that he moves to London to open his own company, The Reno Electric Stairways and Conveyors. He later wanted to build a spiral moving walkway, so he joined up with William Henry Aston to help him fund his idea. The idea was a failure so he sold his patents to the Otis Elevator company and returned to the U.S.
